Early Prep

Hello Friends,  I was having a conversation with a fellow songwriter a couple of weeks ago, and he has started preparing for the upcoming FAWM friendly challenge. He is thinking of using AI as a collaborator with lyrics, which is actually a really neat idea. I on the other hand am thinking about the physical tech that I want to use during recording. I have always been a fan of DIY (Do-It-Yourself) recordings, and I find the restraints to actually be very helpful in fueling creativity. I tried to participate in FAWM earlier this year, I didn’t get far, but what I did get is an idea of how to approach the 2025. I took an older laptop that I had, installed Linux on it, was using Audacity as the main software to record the input. I still have that machine, and I think I will use it for this next FAWM as well. Its going to be pretty cool, I have not decided if I too want to experiment with having an AI co-creator or not, but I’m a fan of the idea of using tools to help you make things b...

FAWM 2025

Image
I am so excited everyone. FAWM (February Album Writing Month) is one of my favorite song-writing events on the year. I know its a little early, but that's just how excited I am about it happening, also many of my local musician friends are already pre-ping for it, so I may actually be a bit behind. If you are not familiar with what it is, every February musicians and songwriters from all over the globe participate in this fun creative project. The idea is to write 14 new pieces in the 28 days of February. These could be lyrics, could be musical pieces, could be full on songs. Its super cool. Its free to create an account and participate at fawm.org. You can collaborate with other artists on the platform, and get to hear what everyone is making. It is a Muse Magnet! and everyone is just so loving and supportive of each other.  It has been a while since I fully participated, and I'm super excited to say that I intend to fully participate this coming year, to create 14 new songs, ...

FAWM Post #2

Even thought it is "Post #2", its Day #6 in the FAWM Challenge. I'm happy to say that so far goatFISH has uploaded 2 new songs, "Open Divine" & "Walks With Angles". Check Them Out Here . They both ended up being full songs. And Sahffi and I have an idea of a couple of songs for our next meet up next week. For one of the upcoming songs, I wanted to start with a musical idea first, and even thought I ran into a bit of technical difficulty, I was still able to manage to get a draft of the musical aspect of the song. At this point, I only have an idea & a title for it "I am a mountain", I'm hoping that by the end of today I would have written something for it. I think I will venture into doing the "half song" idea I've been wanting to do. Since our last attempts have been full songs. Wish me luck. --- Into the creative beyond we go. Come February, AWM.

I apologize for being incognito as the new year arrived, but I've been preparing for a few things, and of course working on LunaVerse some more. Progress is slow, but progress is good. I'm excited to announce that this year I will be participating in FAWM once again, but it will be a little different. For those who don't know what FAWM (February Album Writing Month) is. It is a friendly songwriting challenge, that happens annually in February. The challenge is to write 14 new things in the 28 days of February. They could be 14 full songs, 14 instrumentals, 14 poems/lyrics to songs. Last year I participated in a 3-part tri-lingual song with my talented friends Joe Scala, and Jon S. Patton, called " We Are Travelling/Compagnie Generale Aeropostale " and it was a lot of fun. Jon actually did a great detailed blog post about his process for that year called  FAWM 2015 Retrospectical  . Give a read when you have a chance. THIS year, I will be joining forces wit...
